British Land has published its Corporate Responsibility Report 2008/09

The real estate investment company uses the report to outline its partnership approach to corporate responsibility, which goes under the heading of 'Building Together'

British Land is achieving more through its partnership approach, Building Together.

The report shows that British Land:

reduced energy use by 2 per cent in the company's like-for-like portfolio, cut carbon emissions by 2 per cent and used 15 per cent less mains water, compared to 2004
diverted 94 per cent of demolition waste from landfill, over 80 per cent of construction waste and 85 per cent of managed waste
improved customer satisfaction, with 82 per cent of customers surveyed rating their satisfaction as good or excellent, an increase from 73 per cent in 2007
achieved an average Considerate Constructors Scheme score of 36 out of 40, 13 per cent above the national average..

The report also shows that British Land contributed £718,000 to good causes, with £23 million of local investment through the planning process.
