Kingfisher has published its Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report for the financial year ending 31 January 2009. Entitled Future Homes, it is available on the company’s website at www.kingfisher.com/CR. A 6-page printed summary report is also available (email corporateresponsibility@kingfisher.com) or can be downloaded as a PDF.

Future Homes is Kingfisher’s Group-wide strategy for CR. It has two main aims: to help customers create greener homes and to embed sustainability within its own business operations. CR is part of the Group’s heritage, with B&Q UK being one of pioneers of sustainable business practice in the early 1990s. Future Homes builds on Kingfisher’s long-standing policies in this area.

Using its position as one of the world’s leading home improvement retailers, Kingfisher recognises that it can help customers create more eco-efficient homes, thereby enabling them to reduce their carbon footprint and save money. The company aims to be the customer’s first choice for sustainable products and services. During the year, eco products accounted for 7% of total sales across the Group and Kingfisher is committed to increasing this year on year. The report features video case studies of the specific eco-ranges recently launched by Kingfisher’s two largest businesses - B&Q UK’s One Planet Home® range and Castorama France’s La Maison Éco.

Kingfisher strives to practise what it preaches and is therefore committed to making its own operations more sustainable. It has set a broad range of social and environmental targets and is working closely with suppliers and partners to achieve them.
