The Review reinforces Imperial Tobacco's ongoing commitment to 'Operating Responsibly' to the high standards expected of an international company.

It describes the Company's performance in areas such as product stewardship, sales and marketing, employment, occupational health and safety, environmental management and community involvement. Highlights include:

How the Company manages its business to ensure CR is integral to its overall business strategy;

How and why the Company supports reasonable regulation;

Its ongoing successes in tackling illicit trade;

How employees are supported during restructuring;

An interview with the Eliminating Child Labour in Tobacco Foundation;

Participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project's Supply Chain Leadership Collaboration;

Community partnerships to support sustainable development in West Africa; and

The formation of a Stakeholder Panel facilitated by Andrew Wilson, Managing Director of Corporate Citizenship, to appraise the Company's approach and help direct its CR agenda.

The Review was assured by Corporate Citizenship and SGS United Kingdom Limited verified the employment, environmental, occupational health and safety performance data. Corporate Citizenship also assessed the Company's reporting against the GRI guidelines and in their view the Company had maintained a disclosure level of B+.
